Verkroost Removals
The history of Verkroost Removals: a trusted name within Oomen Movers & Storage
Verkroost Removals is a name with a rich history in the moving industry. Since 1900, this family business has been providing customized and high-quality moving services, with craftsmanship, care and customer focus always at the forefront. Once started with a horse and cart, Verkroost grew into a leading moving organization providing both national and international removals. In 2022 Verkroost Removals became part of Oomen Movers & Storage, continuing the tradition and expertise of five generations within a larger and innovative moving organization.
From horse and cart to international removals
Over more than a century, Verkroost Removals has constantly adapted to the changing world. From the first removals by horse and cart in the early 20th century to the use of modern air-suspended moving vans in the 21st century, innovation and craftsmanship always went hand in hand. The company was known for its versatility and expertise, both in private and business removals. Among other things, Verkroost provided:
- Moving collections from the Natural History Museum in Leiden.
- The complex relocation of the North Holland Provincial Building, which involved moving 1,200 workstations in one week.
- International removals, such as transporting household effects and cars to Bulawayo, Africa, for families committed to development work.
- Careful removals of valuable private household effects to destinations such as southern France.
With branches in Leiden, Leiderdorp, Nijmegen and Leeuwarden, Verkroost had a wide working area and a loyal customer base. Thanks to decades of experience and the transfer of professional knowledge from generation to generation, the company grew into a renowned name in the moving world.
The acquisition by Oomen Movers & Storage
In 2022 Verkroost Removals was acquired by Oomen Movers & Storage. With this takeover, the expertise and customer orientation of Verkroost was brought together with the scale and innovative power of Oomen. Various employees and customers of Verkroost were transferred along with the company, thus maintaining the familiar service and professionalism.
For Oomen Movers & Storage, the acquisition meant a further strengthening of its position as a leading moving company. The additional scale means that both private and business customers – including large organizations with complex moving issues – can be served even better. The combination of traditional expertise and modern moving solutions makes it possible to carry out every move efficiently and with the highest level of care.
A future with respect for the past
Although the name Verkroost Removals has been merged into Oomen Movers & Storage as an independent brand, the history lives on in the way the company operates today. Verkroost’s core values – quality, reliability and customer focus – still form the basis of every move. Thanks to the combination of experience and innovation, Oomen Movers & Storage remains the reliable partner for both individuals and companies. With the integration of Verkroost Removals within Oomen Movers & Storage, the rich history of the family business is continued in a modern and future-oriented moving organization, ready to serve customers with the same dedication for many years to come.
