What to keep in mind when moving in Delft

Delft's historic centre has restricted traffic, access windows and a zero-emission zone, and in older buildings the stairs are not always wide enough. We go through these four points during the survey, together with what we do about them.

Access windows in the centre

In the restricted part of the centre you can load and unload from Sunday to Friday between 7.00 and 12.00, and on Saturday between 7.00 and 10.00. If your move takes longer, we can apply on request for the exemption the municipality offers removal companies, as an extra service.

Zero-emission zone

Since 1 January 2025 the whole historic centre has been a zero-emission zone for vans and lorries, with cameras at the entrances. Our electric vehicles drive in without an exemption, so the zone plays no part in your planning.

Canal house and quay

For a house on a canal, we check during the survey where the van can stand on the quay and how wide the stairs are. If they are too narrow or steep for your wardrobe, it goes in through the window on our moving lift.

Closed street or cycle path

If your home can only be reached via a closed street, a cycle path or a footpath, you need an exemption from the access ban. It must be requested from ParkerenDelft at least three weeks ahead, and we do that for you.
