Van Leeuwen Removals from Sassenheim was a household name in the region for over a century. What began in 1924 as a bid service with a horse and wagon, grew into an all-round moving and transportation company that continued for generations within the same family. In 2021, the company was taken over by an experienced mover, but after a bankruptcy in 2023, Oomen Movers & Storage revived the Van Leeuwen name and operations. Van Leeuwen began in 1924 as a modest delivery service in Sassenheim. Goods and packages were transported by horse and cart, but the company quickly grew with the changing times. Generation after generation, Van Leeuwen continued to build its reputation, expanding its activities to include moving, transport and storage. For nearly a century, Van Leeuwen was known for its customer focus, craftsmanship and reliability. The family business carried out removals for both individuals and businesses, and also provided logistics services for a variety of industries. The love for the trade was passed on from father to son, resulting in a company with strong values and a deep commitment to its customers.
In 2021, Van Leeuwen came into the hands of a new owner, but after two years the company ran into financial difficulties and went bankrupt in 2023. However, this did not mean the end of the Van Leeuwen name: Oomen Movers & Storage saw the value of this historic moving company and acquired it. With the acquisition, several employees and customers of Van Leeuwen transferred to Oomen, preserving the accumulated knowledge and experience. In addition, the integration within Oomen Movers & Storage offers new opportunities: through increased capacity and modern logistical solutions, (large) customers can be served even better.
Although Van Leeuwen Removals has been merged into Oomen Movers & Storage as an independent company, the core of the company remains in place. The values that Van Leeuwen has always pursued – quality, customer focus and craftsmanship – will remain central within Oomen as well.
