Moving starts weeks before moving day: you set a date, register your new address, switch your contracts and pack. On this page you can read what to arrange and when, what a move costs and which part you can leave to us. Oomen Verhuizers & Opslag moves households and businesses in the Randstad and North Brabant. Start about eight weeks before moving day. This is the order that works for most moves.
Fix the moving date, give notice on your rental or agree the key handover, and request a quote. Our schedule runs eight weeks ahead; there is often still room at short notice.
Decide what comes along, what can go and what goes into temporary storage. Switch energy, water, internet and insurance to your new address.
Report your move to the municipality. You can do so from four weeks before until five days after the moving date at the latest. You inform your bank, GP, dentist and subscriptions yourself. Start packing what you do not use every day.
Take large furniture apart or leave that to us, defrost the freezer and set aside a box with what you want to have at hand on moving day.
In the morning the foreman goes through the day with you. After unloading you check the old home, note the meter readings and hand in the keys.
What else we do for you
Packing, taking furniture apart and odd jobs in your new home are things you do yourself or leave to us. A moving lift, storage or piano transport is not a choice: it depends on your home, your dates and your belongings. At the survey your account manager sees what is needed; that goes into the work order.

What moving with a moving company costs
At Oomen you pay a fixed start rate plus an hourly rate for the truck and the movers. So you pay for the time your move takes. We name an amount after the survey: your account manager looks at what comes along and then sends the quote.
- The more that comes along, the longer loading and unloading take.
- An upstairs flat or a long walking distance takes more time than a ground-floor home with the truck at the door.
- Packing, dismantling and a moving lift are added as extra services.
- On Saturdays the costs are higher than on a working day.

Your account manager looks at your belongings, at your home or by video call, and discusses what you hand over. Then you receive the quote.

The agreements go into the work order and we fix the moving day. Your account manager remains your point of contact.
Moving day
The movers load, transport and unload, led by a foreman, and put everything in the right place. During transport your belongings are insured up to € 125,000 with no excess.

Ask your question in the requestFirst fix the moving date and arrange your mover. Then give notice on your rental or agree the key handover, and switch energy, water, internet and insurance. Report your new address to the municipality and to parties that are not informed automatically, such as your bank and your GP. In the last weeks you pack and take large furniture apart.
To the municipality you are moving to, from four weeks before until five days after the moving date at the latest. The municipality passes your new address on to, among others, the Tax Administration, your health insurer, DUO and the RDW. You inform your bank, energy supplier, internet provider, GP, dentist and subscriptions yourself.
At Oomen Verhuizers & Opslag you pay a fixed start rate plus an hourly rate for the truck and the movers. The amount depends on the volume of your belongings, the distance, how accessible both addresses are and what you hand over. After the survey you receive a quote that states the rate and all agreed services.
A working day is usually the most economical: on Saturdays the costs are higher, because movers are then entitled to a surcharge under the collective labour agreement. Choose a day on which you already have the key to your new home, and keep the day after free for unpacking.
Start about eight weeks before the moving date. Our schedule runs eight weeks ahead, but there is often still room at short notice. If your date is only fixed late, simply request a quote; when time is short we plan an emergency move.
Moving yourself costs the least money if you have a van, help and time. A moving company takes over the heavy work. With us, movers with VOG and VCA do the loading, transport and unloading, with our own trucks and a moving lift where needed. You can also do part of it yourself, for example the packing; you agree that at the survey.
Yes. While our movers transport your belongings, they are insured up to € 125,000 with no excess. This does not apply to what you load or transport yourself. If your belongings are worth more, discuss that at the survey.
Only in certain situations. If you are a tenant and have to move because your home is being demolished or thoroughly renovated, you are entitled to a moving allowance from the landlord; the Dutch government sets the minimum amount every year. If you move for medical reasons, you can ask your municipality whether you qualify for an allowance under the Wmo (Social Support Act).
