2023 — Major acquisitions, electrification and a visit from Queen Máxima
In 2023, Nouwens Verhuizingen, Van Leeuwen Verhuizingen, C. Pot Verhuizingen and Storm Verhuizingen are acquired. This makes Oomen one of the largest residential moving companies in the Netherlands. The first electric truck is also taken into service, an important step towards a sustainable future.
At the end of 2023 we received a visit from a delegation including Queen Máxima and Minister Adriaansens, during which the 'State of SMEs' report was presented.

2022 — Acquisition of Verkroost Verhuizingen
With the acquisition of Verkroost Verhuizingen, Oomen Movers & Storage expands further and the company's nationwide coverage grows.

2021 — Further expansion
The new building is expanded with another 250 container spaces, doubling the capacity.

2020 — Construction of the head office and container storage begins
The first phase of the 24-metre-high building in Katwijk is constructed, with an office and 250 container spaces.

2019 — Decision to build new premises in Katwijk
With three rented buildings, the next logical step is taken: the construction of a large container warehouse in Katwijk. This is intended to bring the various branches together in one efficient storage location.

2018 — Switch to containers and further growth
Storage capacity remains a challenge. Oomen switches from wooden storage crates to 20ft containers, increasing efficiency.
- A container truck and a container forklift are purchased.
- A third branch in Leiden is opened for container storage.
- A truck with a loading crane is purchased, allowing containers to be placed directly at customers' locations.
- The first electric passenger cars are taken into use.

2017 — Extra space in Sassenheim
The first business premises in Katwijk soon become too small. An additional building in Sassenheim is therefore rented to accommodate the growth. To strengthen the growing organisation, Frans Oomen, Emile's father, joined the company.

2016 — The first truck
The fleet continues to grow and Oomen purchases its first truck. The number of employees also keeps rising.

2015 — The founding of Oomen Movers
The ambition reaches beyond courier work. Emile stops working for his client and founds Oomen Movers. The first moves are carried out with small vans, without a permanent office. Everything is still arranged from the kitchen table. Emile's wife Stephanie handled the administrative work, while Emile did the home surveys and helped out with the moves.
Later that year, investments are made in trailers and a moving lift to make larger moves possible. In August 2015 the first office building is rented, which also adds storage space. At the time, wooden storage crates were still being used. By the end of the first year, 12 people work at Oomen Movers.

2014 — Expansion of the first business activities
In addition to driving himself, Emile starts renting out the first van to another entrepreneur. This proves successful, and a second van is soon purchased.

2013 — The first step.
At the age of 19, founder Emile Oomen buys his first Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and starts as an independent courier for a parcel service. With this, he takes his first step into the logistics sector.
