Jan Schut Removals has been a household name in Rotterdam and the surrounding area since 1938. After operating as an independent moving company for more than 85 years, Jan Schut Verhuizingen became part of Oomen Movers & Storage effective January 1, 2025. This acquisition preserves Jan Schut’s expertise and quality, while customers benefit from Oomen’s additional capacity and innovative moving solutions.
Jan Schut Removals began its activities in the heart of Rotterdam. For more than 35 years the office was located in the Crooswijk district, a real Rotterdam neighborhood where the company managed to further expand its name recognition. Then the moving company moved to the Bovendijk, near Rotterdam Airport, where it has now been located for about 20 years. From this strategic location, the company was able to serve its customers even better, both within Rotterdam and beyond.
Over the years, Jan Schut Removals not only expanded its own services, but also acquired other moving companies. Among others, De Lely Removals and Van Nimwegen Removals were added to the organization over time. This allowed Jan Schut to strengthen its market position and serve an even broader group of customers.
In 2025, Jan Schut Removals was taken over by Oomen Movers & Storage. With this takeover all approximately 13 employees remained in service, all real Rotterdam people with years of experience in the profession. Their professionalism and knowledge are a valuable addition within Oomen, so customers can still count on the familiar service and expertise of Jan Schut.
With the acquisition, Oomen Movers & Storage has further expanded its presence in Rotterdam. Moreover, the acquisition plays an important role in the deployment of zero-emission vehicles within the city, something that fits perfectly with Oomen’s sustainability ambitions. Following the acquisition, Jan Schut Verhuizingen and the previously acquired C. van Dijk Verhuizingen merged to form Oomen Verhuizers Rotterdam. This continues the rich history of both companies into a strong, future-proof moving organization.
